Wine from the Constantia area, has been enchanting the world since the 1600's. In todays times, it has a distinctly modern feel about it, where 'old meets new'. We like to believe its the worlds greatest urban wine route, and with it comes some of the best chefs South Africa has ever seen.
Many of our wine farms have the most outstanding restaurants - take Bistro 1682 at Steenberg Wine Farm, or The Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia - with Ivor Jones in charge former chef at the internationally acclaimed Test Kitchen. You will be guaranteed a taste sensation like no other.
If you feel like something that is a little bit more relaxed, then try Beyond at Buitenverwachting. Spend a lazy afternoon stretched out on their lawns and order a picnic platter a glass of their finest Buiten Blanc. In fact, if you prefer a G&T they have their own brand of gin too.
Our personal favourite is Constantia Glen ... a chilled and relaxed spot which is high up the valley, giving you the most spectacular views. Their Saddle ~ Rose is our all-time favourite. They serve light lunches and dinners there too.
All nine of these wine-farms have their own uniqueness and something very special to offer, and are within a 10km radius from Windsor House. We can arrange a wine-guide and transport if wine is your thing!
